Kallekot

The walled city of Kallekot, located at the mouth of the Ashstone river, is the largest city on Sea of Ice and Fire. As with most habitable locations in the area, the city is built on the foundation of an ancient Valmaran city. The old Valmaran stone walls surround most of the city and in places the walls are over 50ft in height. But, thousands of years has also done its part and in places the walls have crumbled away and newer wooden palisades have been built.

The city is dominated by a massive dock area, that is protected by a natural breakwater; and can easily hold over 100 ships. The docks have, for the most part, been constructed from the original Valmaran stone docks and the city is a busy place where merchants from around Amar can come to ply their wares.

For the most part, the city of Kallekot is a city made from wooden buildings. Wood buildings with either planked or thatched roofs dominate the majority of the city. In places, partial stone and wood buildings, made from the remains of a Valmaran ruin, can be found and for the most part the streets and alleyways are dirt.

There are several reconstructed and repaired Valmaran stone buildings in Kallekot and most are found in the central business area which also has some of the few cobbled streets in the city. The Jarl of Kallekot, Torval Gunnerson, holds his court in a large stone building surrounded by white stone columns and a red clay tiled roof. Several other large stone buildings are found in the central business area and they hold the cities largest temple to the Elemental gods, a local bank and the residents of several of the wealthiest merchants in the city.

Kallekot is one of the few cities on the Sea of Ice and Fire that have several smaller towns associated with it. Along the coast the towns of Valhamma and Aalborg pledge their alliance to the Jarl in Kallekot. Other towns of Jomsvar, Kreigskal and Skalmar on Lake Harrenval also bend their knee to the Jarl in Kallekot.
