Jomsborg
A medium sized town on the coast of the northern Sea of Ice and Fire; Jomsborg was built within the ruins and the remains of an old Valmaran city.
The Valmarans, attracted to the location due to the natural springs found near the coast, built elaborate baths and fortifications in the area. With the fall of the Valmarans, the warm waters are the home to an abundance of fish and this brought a dragonturtle to the area for the easy hunting. After hundreds of years of calling the surrounding waters and ruins its home, the ancient turtle eventually passed and the area once again was claimed by the wilds only to be settled once again, many years later, by human Viking like clansmen. The shell of the dragonturtle was converted into the roof for the Jarls grand hall and the ruins of the ancient wizard tower and temple were repurposed for the clan.
Over the years, the plentiful fishing opportunities have brought the town fame and renown for its fish market. Merchants travel great distances to trade their wares in Jomsborg. The warm waters are home to a rare red belly snapper and the stew made from the fish is renown throughout the area. The easy fishing has brought others to the village and over time the docks have grown and a rather large and a substantial warehouse/storehouse business has burgeoned. The air is heavy with the cries of fishmongers selling their wares on the stones of an ancient gladiatorial arena and is echoed by the large flocks of gulls that circle the very busy docks.
The town is ruled by Jarl Tarin Gutborg and a group of 7 lords that sit on the town council.
