Far to the north lies the Sea of Ice and Fire where ice floes meet the volcanic lava from the many volcanos that can be found in the area. The lands in the North are too large and remote to be controlled by any one person or faction and the area is the home to many different city states. The largest city, Kallekot, is the epicenter of the trading in the area and is ruled by Jarl Torval Gunnarson.
The Northlands are inhibited by mostly a sturdy human folk who ply their trade across the sea in search of trade and adventure. The land is deep and rich and those who farm for a living can reap a nice bounty each of the growing season even though the season is short. Pockets of Elves can be found inhabiting the forests of the region and there are one or two Dwarven enclaves in the area. Other travelers of different races, foreign to these lands are found as the lands and sea are ripe for adventure.
The Northlands campaign is centered around the largest city in the Northland, Kallekot. Several smaller towns in the general area owe their allegiance to the Jarl of Kallekot and in return the Jarl provides his protection. To the north of Aalborg lies a vast swamp and the ruins of an ancient Valmaran city. At one point in time the city was once known as the “Jewel of the North”; but now it is just a collection of ruins poking up from the murky waters.
To the north are the Ash Mountains, home to the “Razgor-Khal” Orcs. The “Red” or “Bloody” Hand Orcs control everything north and west of the towns of Jomsvar and Aalborg. The Red Hand Orcs have long been known as slavers and their black ships are to be feared across the whole Sea of Ice and Fire.
