Dragonknights

The Dragonknights were a group of Humans and Elves who came together thousands of years ago to battle the Valmarans and their evil dragons. Dragonknights rode into battle on the backs of metallic dragons and were the champions of good against the forces of evil during their time.  All told there were a little over 100 Dragonknights; and most died during the war against the Valmarans.  For those few who survived not much is known of them, as after the war, the Dragonknights disbanded and followed their own paths and not much is recorded of them.

The first Dragonknight was the great Eldar champion, Arfalas, who battled the Grand Master of the Valmarans, Raeghar Blackfist and his massive black dragon, Dracanas Ebonscale on the slopes of the Dragonforge.  Although Arfalas died that day, it was through his actions by causing the Fire Elfstone to explode, which killed both Raeghar and Dracanas that started the downfall of the Valmarans and the creation of the Dragonknights.

After that day fateful day, the cry for more Dragonknights was heard and a group of human and elves came forth.  They were formed specifically to defeat the Valmarans and their evil dragons.  Each Dragonknight formed a bond with their mount and they specifically trained for single combat against their Valmaran foes.  The training was long and hard and many failed; but those who persisted gained the title of Dragonknight. For hundreds of years the Dragonknights carried the balance of good against the forces of evil. Many of the Dragonknights died in the conflict and with the final victory, only a few of the Dragonknights actually survived to witness it.

There is little that remains of the Dragonknights as some things that should not have been forgotten, were lost…history soon became legend…and over time legend became myth.  Over ten thousand years have passed since their time and most of the knowledge of the Dragonknights has been lost.

In recent times, the Elven King Menfalas was one of only a few that knew of a secret that was hidden from all but the oldest of elves. This secret was the location of an old Dragonknight fortress known as Mons Dracanor. With Dracanas’ plan to bring forth the “Rise of Dragons” it was only time before a force would be needed to face them and that force was the rebirth of the Dragonknights.
